Self-Help Support Group
SWEDA runs a Self Help Support Group for those affected by eating disorders. The sessions take place in our comfortable meeting room at The Coach House, in Shepton Mallet.
SWEDA has always recognised the value of peer support – people coming together to support one another, share their successes and challenges and to encourage each other along the journey to recovery. The group is facilitated by two SWEDA members of staff, though the focus is on what the individuals contribute to the sessions. SWEDA is there to provide a safe environment, offer support and welcome you into the group.
The group is open to anyone who has an eating disorder, or supports someone who does. If you feel more comfortable coming with a friend or family member, you are welcome to do so.
Self Help Support Group takes place on the first Wednesday of every month with the exception of August. There is no obligation to attend every month – some have used the group infrequently, whilst other members have found this form of support helpful when used on a regular basis. It is completely up to you.
