Mendip All Drummers
Organisation type: Voluntary or Community Sector
Mendip All Drummers (M.A.D) community djembe group love to share with audiences the joy of African hand drumming at events ranging from village days to parties, festivals & visits to schools & community groups. We regularly appear at public & private events across Somerset.
We meet every Wednesday morning to learn & practice from 10.00 am till 1.00 pm at Croscombe Village Hall, Fayreway, Croscombe, Somerset BA5 3QJ (just off the A371 Shepton – Wells road) -,as well as on Monday evenings from 7 till 9 at Writhlington Village Hall near Radstock BA3 3NF. Our weekly sessions are open to all ages. Previous experience is not necessary as we adapt each session to the ability of the people there. Drums are available for you to use. We always have a refreshment break which is a great time to get to know the members of the group. We ask a token sum of £4 per person towards the cost of the hall and refreshments.
These are drop in sessions at which you will be very welcome whenever you can come. We are a small, friendly group playing mainly West African rhythms on djembes and dunduns - as well as sometimes exploring other areas of percussion and rhythm. Absolute beginners & more experienced players are always welcome to visit or join the group.
Ring up - or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org & we’ll get back to you - or simply turn up on a Wednesday morning or Monday evening & see what we are up to.
