Organisation details

Somerset Dyslexia Association

Organisation type: Voluntary or Community Sector

The Somerset Dyslexia Association is run entirely by volunteers, working from their own homes. We aim to be a source of information and practical support to anyone who has dyslexia and to raise public awareness and understanding of dyslexia.

To do this we have helplines and a drop-in at the Taunton Library Meeting room on the first Saturday morning of every month, from 10am to 12 noon . This is free to anybody. Details are on our website

We run 2 conferences a year for those who support anyone with dyslexia eg teachers, parents. Committee members run a parent support group and adult support group as best they can, usually by phone at the moment.

Membership is £14 for direct debit payments, or £15 by cheque annually. Members have free access to our resources, discounted tickets to our conferences, and 'Contact' magazine from the British Dyslexia Association 3 times a year.

The SDA is a registered charity No.289263. It is affiliated to the British Dyslexia Association.
